What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-08-21 12:44 UTC.

Continuation, not reversal — but the stretch marks are showing a little more clearly this morning. Bitcoin hovers near $76.6k on the same regulatory optimism (Citi custody, CLARITY push, CFTC signals), gold holds firm near $4,579, and oil is camped just under $86.83 resistance with Bessent's Fed tussle keeping bonds tense.

The London window brings the first flash PMI readings of the month — euro-area and UK manufacturing and services. Low- to medium-impact, they won't headline, but they set the growth tone ahead of the US prints later.

Watch whether the bullish tilt holds its footing. The barometer still leans bullish across the board, but the warnings are piling up: EUR, GBP and gold all carry quiet RSI-divergence cautions, oil has 0.4 ATR of headroom and 4.0 ATR of floor, and BTC/ETH are extended in blue-sky territory with the nearest support 10–14 ATR below. Short-term momentum has cooled — BTC's M5 RSI sits at 38.5, ETH's at 41.2. If PMIs disappoint, that stretched posture looks fragile; if they hold, blue-sky momentum stays the guardrail.
