What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-08-25 21:00 UTC.

The New York close leaves the tape in much the same shape it entered: crypto still leading but catching its breath after a three-month high, oil sliding as Iran headlines fail to bite, and equities and bonds calmer on the back of cheaper crude.

In the Asia window, Australia owns the calendar — CPI m/m, y/y, and Trimmed Mean CPI, plus Construction Work Done and the MI Leading Index. Japan offers only SPPI. The Aussie inflation prints are the day's sole high-tier items, so AUD should set the tone early.

The technical tilt stays friendly: gold is bullish-clear with open ground overhead, Bitcoin and Ethereum remain bullish on higher frames but squeezed between close levels — a breakout is on the table, direction unknown. Oil is the outlier: H4/H1 down, RSI near 25, with a tested floor at 79.82; the bearish lean holds until 82.03 is reclaimed. FX is mostly bullish-leaning, with GBP's lone caution a divergence warning. One breakout to watch, one floor to respect, and a CPI print to keep the Aussie honest.
