What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-08-26 12:01 UTC.

London’s tune carries into New York rather than reversing: global equities stay bid on softer oil and AI optimism, while crypto catches its breath after a three-month high — even as reports surface of US banks building their own blockchain counter-move. The session question isn’t whether the backdrop changes, but whether the crypto pause deepens or dip-buyers step in.

The calendar turns serious. Core PCE m/m and preliminary GDP q/q headline the window, with durable goods, personal income and spending, crude inventories, and FOMC’s Barkin filling out the sides. The gauge tilt: EUR neutral; GBP and USD/JPY bullish-leaning; gold bullish-leaning; oil bearish-clear; BTC bullish-clear; ETH bearish-leaning.

Oil is the cleanest narrative — H4/H1 down, RSI soft — though a divergence warning at the 79.95 ceiling says don’t blindly chase. GBP sits in a 1.36213–1.36328 squeeze, so a breakout is on the table, direction unknown. Gold is high in its range just under 4626.06: rejection or break decides. And with PCE as the headliner, let inflation set the dollar’s tone for everything else.
