SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-08-28 08:01 UTC.

Good morning, London. Stablecoin headlines still own the wires — the UK is handing the Bank of England a payments-innovation objective, Revolut has launched a euro-backed stablecoin, and the Bank of Korea’s second straight hike to 3% keeps the regional tone hawkish. That’s a continuation of yesterday’s story, not a reversal: regulation is driving sentiment, and the dollar remains firm without being aggressive.

The calendar is nearly bare — the only scheduled item is Italy’s 10-year bond auction, and it’s low impact. So the technical barometer is the guide: EUR/USD is neutral and squeezed between 1.16460 and 1.16512; Cable is the only bearish lean (D1 up, H4/H1 down, with a divergence warning); USD/JPY leans bullish with the H4 uptrend and RSI near 59; gold is neutral; oil has lost yesterday’s bullish tilt and now sits between 82.21 and 82.77.

Watch the closes, not the noise. Bitcoin slipped back below the 79,951.7 shelf and is testing 79,511 support — the divergence warning from Asia still applies, so a daily close decides. Ether is similarly straddling 2486.4–2514.2. With no macro catalyst, levels will do the talking — and today’s lone auction may only whisper.
