What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-08-30 21:03 UTC.

The Jackson Hole baton has been passed: Warsh’s hawkish signal — raise rates if inflation doesn’t fall soon — kept the dollar bid into the close, while gold slid 3.7%. The stablecoin story didn’t reverse; it just stepped aside, with RLUSD supply on Ethereum jumping 93% and the SEC’s custody rewrite now at the White House.

Asia’s calendar is light but not empty: Japanese industrial production, retail sales and housing starts, Australian business confidence and private credit, China’s PMIs — and German CPI as the lone medium-tier event. The UK is on holiday, so sterling moves may tell you more about liquidity than conviction.

On the gauge, USD/JPY still reads bullish but is overbought, with a divergence warning — respect the 159.42 shelf. EUR/USD is parked right at 1.15835 resistance with RSI deeply oversold; a push through or fade from that level sets the tone. Gold is stretched after the drop, with 4401.50 as the line to watch. Bitcoin is squeezed between 78,419 and 78,846 — that breakout’s direction likely decides crypto’s mood into London.
