What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-01 08:02 UTC.

Geopolitics still owns the tape: Middle East headlines have oil bid, equities wavering, and the 10-year yield crossing a threshold that has bond traders sitting up. But the bid has cooled — after topping $91 last session, oil trades at 86.14, still H4-bullish but with an RSI divergence warning.

That no-anchor calendar flips today. The euro area's flash CPI prints (headline and core) are the session's main event, flanked by final manufacturing PMIs from Europe and the UK plus UK money supply, mortgage approvals and net lending — low-impact around the edges, but the euro finally has a data anchor.

The barometer reads as a study in squeezes. USD/JPY is the cleanest bull — after breaking its 159.59–159.76 box to 159.99, it has open ground overhead. Gold leans bearish but is pinned between 4405.38 and 4419.56; a break either way decides. Cable stays heavy inside its 1.35270–1.35391 band, and EUR/USD sits low in its range — 1.15865 below, 1.16155 above — so the CPI print has room to move it. Bitcoin eased to 78,554 inside a tight 78,419–78,835 band; Ether hovers just under 2,480. Oil keeps its H4 up-tilt, but the divergence warning says let 84.86 come to you — chasing here is like boarding the last train car: it works until it doesn't.
