SESSION PREP · ASIA

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-02 21:09 UTC.

Asia Session Prep — 21:00–08:00 UTC

The session that just ended continued the story rather than reversing it: oil firmed again on fresh US-Iran headlines, stocks rose on Wall Street, and bond yields held relatively steady — a pause for breath, not a pivot.

Asia's calendar is the low-key sort. New Zealand's overseas trade index and ANZ commodity prices open it; Australia follows with its goods trade balance and two RBA speakers (Jones, then Hunter); Tokyo then auctions 30-year bonds — the yen's yield story gets a voice. A private Chinese services gauge joins the mix, and Swiss CPI is the only medium-ticket release before Europe's final services PMIs round out the window.

Watch three threads. USD/JPY is the standout — oversold at RSI 29 after BOJ-hike chatter lifted the yen, with 158.60865 as the line in the sand. Gold's bounce has extended (+1.30% over eight hours); the question is whether it holds 4361.02 and reaches for 4418.54. Oil is the headline writer again — extended, no tested ceiling overhead, and a quiet RSI divergence to respect. Bitcoin, above its old squeeze zone, now tests 77482.7 with regulatory headlines swirling.
