SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-02 08:03 UTC.

The story from yesterday is not reversed — it has doubled down. Asian stocks fell as US-Iran fighting lifted oil and deepened the bond rout, hawkish Fed talk keeps the dollar bid against most peers, and BOJ policy chatter has yen pairs on edge. Oil still writes the tape.

The data calendar is giving London the morning off: nothing is scheduled between 08:00 and 12:00 UTC, so the window belongs to headlines, cross-asset flows, and whatever crude does next.

On the gauge, the tilt is extension rather than freshness. USD/JPY is still the bullish lean, but momentum cooled over the last eight hours — pressing 159.66, not clearing it, with tested support deeper at 159.34. Oil's uptrend is intact, yet H4 RSI has eased from yesterday's 81 to the mid-70s — respect the move, mind the pullback. Gold is the oversold counterweight (H4 RSI 26.6) just under 4327.72, so a bounce still wouldn't surprise. And the kiwi, deeply oversold after a rough night (RSI 23), is the one to watch for a technical recovery if the headlines steady.
