SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-03 08:05 UTC.

Asia's pause is dissolving around the edges: equities kept climbing on Wall Street's coattails, but oil stepped back from firm footing and the bond rout is back in the headlines, with nerves over a Fed hike and the IMF flagging rising yields. The story hasn't so much reversed as changed cast — bonds are speaking louder while crude catches its breath.

The calendar keeps the energy low: final services PMIs for the euro area and UK, euro-area PPI, and Challenger's US job-cut count. Final PMIs are usually the encore after the flash print — polite applause, little drama. The live wires are Spain's and France's 10-year auctions: background noise in a normal week, but with the bond rout deepening, they earn a glance.

Three threads to follow. USD/JPY is the loudest — deeply oversold at RSI 16 after an outlier move, with flipped resistance at 157.83 overhead and 156.31 support below. Cable rests on its 1.35040 floor, well-worn after 15 touches. Gold's bounce presses toward the flipped ceiling at 4440.32; oil is pinned on just-tested 88.86. Bitcoin holds above 77506.9, next hurdle 77971.8, with regulatory headlines as backdrop.
