What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-04 12:04 UTC.

Fed’s Waller is still the headline anchor: Wall Street closed sharply higher, bond yields eased, and the Dutch gold move keeps bullion in the news. Not everything extended, though — oil has cooled over the past eight hours — so this is a continuation with pockets of reversal, not a straight sequel.

The calendar is jobs-heavy. The U.S. prints Non-Farm Employment Change, Unemployment Rate and Average Hourly Earnings; Canada brings Employment Change, Unemployment Rate and the Ivey PMI. The U.S. payroll numbers are the natural trigger for dollar direction and cross-asset tone.

Gauge-wise: Ether is the only clear bull, aligned up on D1/H4/H1 and pressing toward 2526.8. Bitcoin is bullish-leaning but capped under 81,299.8, making it a breakout-watch rather than a chase. Oil retains its H4 uptrend, but H1 RSI at 44.4 softens that conviction, leaving 89.76 as a test. USD/JPY is neutral-bearish and stretched, so snap risk deserves respect. EUR/USD and gold sit neutral, with no aligned timeframe. Sterling’s bearish lean keeps cable coiled between 1.35271 and 1.35389; whichever side gives first may set the session tone.
