What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-07 12:00 UTC.

US Session Prep — 12:00–21:00 UTC

Happy Labor Day to our US friends — markets are closed stateside, so today’s session is a holiday-thinned affair. The dollar carries Friday’s hot payroll punch into the open, keeping Fed hike bets alive and bitcoin pinned below $80,000. The risk-off pulse continues to favor the yen: USD/JPY is deeply stretched at H4 RSI 20.0, yet the downtrend holds, so respect the snap risk. Gold echoes that bearish tone, squeezed between 4385.58 and 4400.42 — a breakout is on the table. Oil remains the bull outlier, holding its uptrend near the 90.47 support coil with open ground overhead.

The calendar is quiet: a Canadian and US bank holiday means thin liquidity, so technicals will lead and moves may amplify. Expect choppy, low-volume conditions rather than a clear directional push.

Watch the cable coil between 1.35141 and 1.35395 — with resistance just 0.4 ATR above, a break sets the tone. Gold’s squeeze is the other key: a close outside 4385.58–4400.42 signals direction. Ether shows a divergence warning against its H1 uptrend, so don’t chase strength near the 2485.2 support. Keep stops honest and sizes modest in holiday conditions.
