SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-08 08:00 UTC.

London Session Prep — 08:00–12:00 UTC

The overnight story is a direct continuation of yesterday's: risk stays cautious as oil's geopolitical bid keeps climbing — Brent is pressing toward $100 — while gold and crypto feel the pinch. The dollar's firmness from Friday's payroll data remains the anchor, but USD/JPY's stretched bearish run is the tension point.

The window is light on data: RBA Deputy Governor Hauser speaks early, followed by the NFIB Small Business Index. Neither should move the needle much, so technicals and headline flow — particularly any fresh Hormuz or refinery news — will do the talking.

Watch oil first: RSI at 71 on the H1 with no tested ceiling above says the trend is clear but extended — respect the snap risk. USD/JPY is the other live wire: H4 RSI at 25.3 with no floor below, and H1 momentum is already turning up. Gold remains squeezed between 4384.95 and 4400.56 — let price pick a side before leaning in. Keep sizes modest while headlines drive the tape.
