SESSION PREP · LONDON

What to watch in the London session

The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-09 08:00 UTC.

Morning. Oil is still the story — Brent hovering near $100, and that geopolitical bid kept equities heavy through Asia. Gold has snapped back from yesterday's squeeze, up 1.35% over eight hours, but the EMA structure remains bearish. The dollar's firmness is the anchor, with USD/JPY stretched lower at RSI 33 and no tested floor below.

The calendar is thin — a German 10-year auction is the only scheduled item — so headline flow on the Middle East or refining bottlenecks will drive the tape. Watch whether oil's clean bull run (H4 RSI 62, no ceiling above) extends toward that $100 psychological mark, and whether gold's bounce stalls at resistance near 4411.

The technical barometer is a study in contrasts: oil and the euro lean bullish, USD/JPY is bearish-clear, while cable and the cryptos sit squeezed between close levels — Ethereum especially, with support at 2502.5 and resistance at 2518.9 nearly touching. If gold's divergence warning plays out, expect a rejection at that ceiling rather than a breakout. Keep sizes modest while headlines lead.
