What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-09 12:00 UTC.

Morning. The oil story has officially crossed the line — Brent is now above $100, and that geopolitical bid is keeping European equities under pressure while the dollar holds firm. Gold's bounce has extended, up 0.70% over eight hours, but the EMA structure is still bearish, and USD/JPY remains stretched lower with no tested floor beneath it.

Today's calendar stays light: Lagarde and Nagel speak, the 10-year auction rolls through, and the API bulletin lands late. With headlines leading, watch whether oil's clean bull run (H4 RSI 67) can hold above that psychological mark or finally meets a ceiling. Gold sits squeezed between 4400.56 support and 4416.79 resistance — a rejection there would confirm the bearish divergence warning rather than a breakout.

The barometer still leans bullish on oil and the euro, bearish-clear on USD/JPY, with cable and the cryptos trapped between close levels. Ethereum's 2486.1–2502.5 range is nearly touching, so direction will likely come from headline flow, not structure. Keep sizes modest while the news drives the tape.
