What to watch in the US session

The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-10 12:00 UTC.

Morning. The story is holding its shape: world shares are retreating, oil is still north of $100 a barrel, and the inflation conversation keeps writing the headlines — with the ECB's hike call and the Fed's two inflation reports now genuinely in view. The dollar remains the calm one in the room.

Today's US window is busy on both sides of the Atlantic. The ECB's Main Refinancing Rate, Monetary Policy Statement and Press Conference land first, then US Core and headline PPI m/m carry the High flag, with Unemployment Claims at Medium behind them. Crude Oil Inventories, Natural Gas Storage, Existing Home Sales, Wholesale Inventories and a 30-y Bond Auction fill out the low-tier slate.

The barometer hasn't flipped from this morning. Oil stays bullish-clear with H4 RSI 68.1 and no tested ceiling above; gold is bearish-clear but pinned right at 4389.44 resistance with 4366.74 as the floor. USD/JPY is the stretched one — H1 RSI 62.9, sitting low in the range with 153.74767 below and a long road up to 156.24900. Crypto is mixed rather than uniformly sliding: bitcoin H1 down at RSI 42.3, ethereum H4 still up at 45.8, both squeezed between close levels. Keep sizes modest while the tape follows news, not structure.
