What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-09-20 23:20 UTC.

Good evening. The dollar bid that walked through Friday is still walking — EUR/USD and GBP/USD both closed soft, USD/JPY firm, and the BOJ's hike still hasn't put a floor under the yen. So today continues that story rather than reversing it.

Asia's docket is threadbare: a Japanese bank holiday, Rightmove's UK house-price print, and New Zealand credit-card spending — all low-tier, with Tokyo out and liquidity thinner for it.

On the barometer, the dollar's pressure valves remain stretched. EUR/USD (1.14801, H4 RSI 39.1) and GBP/USD (1.33888, H4 RSI 42.4) both lean bearish with no tested ceiling above and the floor far below, while USD/JPY (157.017, H4 RSI 63.4) leans bullish but sits evenly balanced — 2.6 ATR up, 1.3 ATR down. Gold is squeezed between 4364.61 and 4385.02, breakout on the table, direction unknown; oil leans bullish high in its range; and crypto stays the outlier — Bitcoin (81,159.1, H4 RSI 67.2) and Ethereum both bullish, with Litecoin's H1 RSI at a scorching 87. Watch whether the dollar bid extends or those stretched pairs finally breathe.
