The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-21 08:00 UTC.
Good morning. The dollar bid that walked through Friday is still walking — EUR/USD and GBP/USD are both stretched to the downside with no tested ceiling above, USD/JPY is firm, and the BOJ's hike still hasn't put a floor under the yen. Today continues that story rather than reversing it.
Asia's docket was threadbare — a Japanese bank holiday, Rightmove's UK house-price print, New Zealand credit-card spending — all low-tier, with Tokyo out and liquidity thinner for it. London's own calendar is just as light: the German Buba monthly report and a Goolsbee appearance, both low-tier.
On the barometer, the dollar's pressure valves are still stretched. EUR/USD (1.14769, H4 RSI 38.5) and GBP/USD (1.33780, H4 RSI 39.6) both lean bearish with no tested ceiling above and the floor far below, while USD/JPY (157.264, H4 RSI 65.6) leans bullish but sits evenly balanced — 2.9 ATR up, 0.7 ATR down. Gold is squeezed between 4339.22 and 4354.14, breakout on the table, direction unknown; oil leans bearish low in its range; and crypto stays the outlier — Bitcoin (81,472.9, H4 RSI 69.3) and Ethereum both bullish, with Litecoin's H4 RSI at a scorching 84.8. Watch whether the dollar bid extends or those stretched pairs finally breathe.
