The London session (Europe open · the liquidity hour) · updated 2026-09-22 08:00 UTC.
Good morning. The dollar bid that started Friday is still on its walk — EUR/USD (1.14691) and GBP/USD (1.33731) remain stretched to the downside with no tested ceiling above, USD/JPY (157.482) is firm, and crypto is doing its own thing entirely: Bitcoin (RSI 55) and Ethereum are easing back from stretched highs, with the board's altcoins giving up ground over the last eight hours.
The London window itself is light on hard data but not on voices: German Buba President Nagel and ECB President Lagarde both speak (Lagarde's the medium-tier one), and the UK gets CBI industrial order expectations on the low-tier side. Japan remains out for a bank holiday, so yen liquidity stays thin — worth remembering if USD/JPY makes a run at anything.
On the barometer, the dollar's pressure valves are still stretched. EUR/USD leans neutral (H4 RSI 39.4, floor 1.14623 just below, resistance 11.9 ATR away), GBP/USD neutral (H4 RSI 40.9, resistance 15.8 ATR away — genuinely stretched), and USD/JPY leans bullish (H4 RSI 66.2) with room both ways. Gold leans bearish, squeezed between 4333.73 and 4359.91 with a breakout on the table. Oil leans neutral, pinned just under 92.57. Watch whether the dollar bid extends or those stretched pairs finally breathe — and whether Lagarde gives the euro a reason to move.
