The US session (New York open · the afternoon drive) · updated 2026-09-30 12:00 UTC.
The dollar's grip loosened just enough for a few pairs to breathe — EUR/USD (1.13576) has flipped back to a bearish tilt after a quiet shift out of neutral at 11:15 UTC, GBP/USD (1.32926) is pushing at 1.33235 with H1 RSI at 74.0, and oil (89.78) is squeezed tight between 88.99 and 89.86 with the bearish lean intact. Gold (4190.59) has crept up to a bearish lean, still boxed below 4257.48.
Today's US session is a heavyweight: Core PCE Price Index m/m and Final GDP q/q headline the data docket, alongside ADP Non-Farm Employment Change and the Final GDP Price Index. We also get Personal Income and Spending, Goods Trade Balance, Prelim Wholesale Inventories, Chicago PMI, and Crude Oil Inventories. On the mic, FOMC's Barkin and Cook speak, plus President Trump — and it's a Bank Holiday in Canada, so CAD liquidity may run thin.
On the barometer, the stretched pairs stay stretched: EUR/USD is bearish leaning with price between two close levels, GBP/USD bearish clear across D1/H4/H1 but with H1 momentum running hot, USD/JPY neutral with H4 bands at their tightest in 120 bars — a squeeze worth watching. Gold's higher-timeframe read stays mixed; oil is the one stretching its legs, H1 RSI 53.8. Watch whether the dollar bid extends or those pairs finally breathe — and whether Core PCE gives it a nudge either way.
