Asia Session's Technical Barometer

What this reads: the bigger picture for this session — daily, 4-hour and 1-hour trends with 4-hour and 1-hour momentum, read when this briefing was written. It changes slowly and is not a forecast. Market Pulse reads only the last hour or so, so the two can disagree: a short bounce inside a downtrend can read bullish there and bearish here.

SESSION PREP · ASIA

What to watch in the Asia session

The Asian session (Sydney · Australia · Tokyo · China · Singapore) · updated 2026-10-12 21:02 UTC.

Good evening. The day just gone was a tangle of oil headlines pulling in both directions — a spike, then a softer patch — with bank earnings and a mixed Asia close rounding things out.

The gauge has shifted again since the last prep. EUR/USD now reads BEARISH CLEAR — D1 and H1 both down against a mixed H4, RSI readings of 33.0 on H4 and 26.3 on H1, and price stretched with the nearest level below far away. GBP/USD has moved to NEUTRAL — D1 and H1 mixed, H4 up — sitting close to the level below. USD/JPY stays BULLISH CLEAR across D1 and H4 with H1 the odd one out, closer to the level above. Gold is BEARISH LEANING, D1 and H1 down against an up H4, nearer support; Oil and Ethereum are NEUTRAL, Ethereum right at the level below; Bitcoin is BEARISH LEANING, boxed between two close levels.

The calendar is quiet — low-tier releases only: BRC Retail Sales, Japanese bank lending and PPI, RBA minutes, NAB business confidence, plus MPC Member Greene, German final CPI and FOMC Member Waller on the wires. Watch whether EUR/USD's stretched read invites any pullback chatter, and whether Bitcoin's tight zone gives way.
