Argentina to Share Crypto User Transaction Data Globally by 2029 - Bitcoin News

Argentina's tax authority, AFIP, has moved to bring cryptocurrency transactions into the global tax transparency framework. Under the plan, the country would begin automatically sharing data on crypto users' transactions with foreign tax authorities by 2029, aligning with the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF).
The practical effect is that crypto activity in Argentina would no longer sit outside the reporting channels that already cover bank accounts and other financial assets. Once the framework is in force, exchanges and other intermediaries would be expected to collect user and transaction details and pass them to AFIP, which would then exchange that information with participating jurisdictions.
For markets, the development is less about prices and more about infrastructure. It signals that Argentina is joining a widening group of countries treating digital assets as a standard part of the tax-reporting system rather than a separate, lightly supervised category.
What to watch: how Argentina implements the rules domestically, which jurisdictions it exchanges with, and how other countries in the region respond. The 2029 timeline gives the industry time to adapt, but the direction of travel is clear.
