BaFin rejects Bitcoin Group SE's MiCA applicati... - Pluang

Germany's financial regulator BaFin has rejected the MiCA licence application of Bitcoin Group SE, the listed parent of crypto exchange Bitcoin.de. The decision means the company cannot operate as a fully authorised crypto-asset service provider under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, at least on the basis of its current filing.
The development matters because MiCA introduces a single licensing regime across the EU. Firms that secure approval can serve customers across member states under one passport, while those that do not may face limits on the services they can offer and the markets they can reach. A rejection at this stage also draws attention to how strictly national regulators are interpreting the rules.
For observers, the key question is what happens next: whether Bitcoin Group SE can remedy the issues, refile, or adjust its business model. How BaFin and other supervisors handle similar applications will shape the competitive landscape for crypto firms operating in Europe.
