BNY has added XRP and RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, to its institutional custody platform, according to Crypto Economy. The move extends the bank's custody offering to two additional digital assets, giving institutional clients a regulated route to hold them alongside other supported holdings.

The development matters less as a price signal than as a structural one. Custody is foundational infrastructure: when a large, established bank broadens the assets it safekeeps, it signals that institutional-grade handling — segregation, recordkeeping and operational controls — is being extended to a wider set of tokens. For XRP, inclusion puts the asset within reach of firms whose mandates require a qualified custodian.
